Pop, Fizz, Clink. It’s Time For A Sparkling Holiday Drink!

There’s nothing quite like sparkling wine to turn any occasion into a celebration and with the Holiday season fast approaching it’s time to start planning some festive cocktails.

Typically white or rosé in colour sparkling wine can range in sweetness from very dry to sweet. The most well-known varieties of sparkling wine are Champagne, Prosecco and Cava each defined by the grapes, region and methods used to make the wine.

As we gear up for The Holidays here are three sparkling holiday drinks that will add a sparkle to your day!

Empress 75

This cocktail is as delicious to taste as it is pretty to look at! A take on the better-known French 75 the Empress Gin used in this cocktail combines with the other ingredients to create beautiful indigo-toned bubbly beverage.

What you will need: (single serving)
• 1 ½ OZ Empress 1908 Gin
• ¾ OZ Fresh lemon juice
• ½ OZ Simple syrup
Sparkling wine
• Lemon twist

Method:
Mix the gin, fresh lemon juice and simple syrup (find out to to make your own here) together and shake on ice in your cocktail shaker. Fine strain into a chilled flute and add your sparling wine. Garnish with a lemon twist and enjoy!


Mimosa
A favoured tipple while out for brunch, a mimosa is traditionally composed of champagne and a chilled citrus juice. Depending on your palate preference and the desired effervescence any sparkling wine can be used to create this refreshing cocktail.

What you will need: (single serving)
• 2 ½ OZ Sparkling wine
• 2 ½ OZ juice

Method:
Ensure both ingredients are well chilled before mixing them into the flute and stir. Easy! While orange juice is the most popularly used in a mimosa, you can add any juice of your preference. Why not try out pineapple or mango juice for a tropical twist? Alternatively, you could use either cranberry or pomegranate juice if you are feeling truly festive.


Holiday Sparkler 

This seasonably driven cocktail blends the warm spices we very often turn to on these cold, dark days. The brandy added to this mix brings a certain sophistication to any occasion and is sure to kick start those festive feelings!

What you will need: (serving of 5)
• 1/4 cup light brown sugar
• 1 lemon wedge
• 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
• 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
• 1/8 teaspoon ground allspice
• 1/8 teaspoon ground ginger
• 5 cubes light brown sugar
• 5 ounces brandy
• 1 (750-milliliter) bottle of chilled sparkling wine

Method:
Pour the brown sugar onto a plate. Rub the lemon wedge along the rim of each flute (but not inside the rim.) Holding each glass at an angle, roll the outer edge of the rim in the sugar until it’s fully coated. Next, mix together the cinnamon, cloves, allspice and ginger, then divide the mixture evenly among the glasses. Add 1 sugar cube and 1 ounce of brandy to each glass. Stir until the spices are well blended. Evenly pour the bottle of chilled sparkling wine into each glass and serve.
