5 Pupsicles Your Fur Babies Can Enjoy This Summer

While summer just started here, the long hot days are just about to start. We are all spending more time outdoors with our fur families. But don’t forget your fur families. Dogs are part of the family too! So while you are cooling off with a nice refreshing treat this summer, help your fur baby keep cool and enjoy some cool summer treats also. Don’t be afraid to get creative, add in their favourite human food or their go-to treat for a fun surprise.

Here are 5 fun and healthy pupsicles for your dogs to enjoy!

Peanut Butter Banana
All you need is some ripe bananas, peanut butter, plain yoghurt (must be plain yoghurt) and your dog’s favourite treat. To make the pupsicles mash the banana and mix the peanut butter and yoghurt. Place in an ice cube tray and use the treat as the stick to hold for your dog. Freeze until all frozen. Once the treat is frozen, your dog can enjoy!

Chicken and Peas
Stir together some low-sodium chicken stock with some water, and add some cooked chicken meat finely chopped and some frozen peas. Pour into re-useable ice pop mould and use your dogs favourite rawhide stick as the stick. Freeze and serve to your pup on a hot summers day!

Pumpkin and Banana Pupsicles
Mashup some very ripe bananas and stir in some pumpkin puree (not pumpkin pie filling), freeze and let your pup enjoy!

Berry Good Dog
Summertime is the season of fresh berries, and sometimes it is fun to let your furbaby in on the sweetness too. Take 1/2 cup chopped strawberries, blackberries or raspberries, pureed, or whole blueberries and mix with 2 5-ounce containers plain yoghurt. Mix it all and freeze!

Are you feeling Lazy with all this heat?
Simply cut up some watermelon and freeze it. I have yet to meet a dog who doesn’t love watermelon!
