We are more than one year into a global pandemic and everything has changed, including our relationship to the environment. While it is likely still too early to tell what the long-term impacts are, we are seeing that the pandemic has currently decreased our travel (a good thing for our climate) and dramatically increased our consumption of single-use things (a not so good thing for our environment).
We at Spud.ca understand that plastic waste is a leading concern of our customers and our community which is why we are excited to re-launch our Takeback program, and support Ocean Ambassadors Canada.
What are we doing for Earth Day?
During the onset of the pandemic, we put our Takeback program on pause until we refined our health & safety protocols to protect our staff. Now, we are ready to restart it! You can learn all about it here.
In addition, to celebrate the relaunch of our program and elevate our mission to tackle plastic waste, we have decided to raise money for Ocean Ambassadors Canada from April 19th to 30th.
Who is Ocean Ambassadors?
This Vancouver-based, non-for-profit is turning the tide of marine pollution. Through their educational programs and community initiatives, they get people to the ocean, educate them about the threat of marine pollution and empower people to make real change.
This organization fosters ocean ambassadors through their school programs and summer camps. In these programs, kids aged 8 to 14 receive an inspiring and educational experience. The instructors focus on teaching stand-up paddle board skills, discussing the ways that ocean plastics impact marine life, and exploring ways to make a difference.
How you can help!
From April 19th to 30th, Spud.ca is donating $0.50 per Be Fresh or Nature’s Path eligible product to Ocean Ambassadors. Consider purchasing one of these products to maximize our support! In addition, you can also donate $2, $5, or $20 to Ocean Ambassadors by adding a donation to your cart when you’re shopping on Spud.ca. You can make a donation here!
Thank you for your support and for your passion to change the world, one bite at a time. Happy Earth Day!
