During times of crisis, the basic essentials become more important to us. And what is more basic than food? In the first few weeks of the pandemic, Spud’s entire system was quickly overloaded with thousands of people looking to us for support during these difficult times. We promised we would adapt to the situation in order to get food to as many people as possible, and now we’re excited to launch our new Stay Home Boxes.
Stay Home Boxes
Stay Home Boxes are set boxes of grocery essentials delivered to your home. They are curated with an assortment of healthy food essentials. Because we don’t specify the brands or flavours for any items in the box, we are able to ensure a complete order even though our supply of products may vary week to week. More different boxes will be available soon, and the selection will change week to week.
This program takes what we’ve learned from years of getting food to people with Spud and pares it back to the basics. They are packed and delivered from a different facility, and you cannot use your Spud account to order. To launch, we are offering them in select areas around Vancouver and Calgary, but plan to expand our delivery areas.
Get Your Essentials and Give Back
The best part? When you shop Stay Home Boxes, you’re also helping at-risk community members and front line workers! For every Stay Home Box purchased, $3 goes back into the program to support those most at-risk and people working on the front lines through our partner organizations. You can also donate directly to those organizations, and send boxes to loved ones or those in need via the Stay Home Boxes website.
The program also creates employment for couriers to deliver the boxes, and for a warehouse team to receive, pick and pack these boxes. During this crisis when so many Canadians have lost their jobs, this initiative is helping not only front line workers and at-risk community members get safe access to essential food items, but it’s also letting us keep more people employed.

Our number one goal is to provide a reliable grocery service during this crisis, supporting our team as well as front line workers and at risk members of our community. We’re excited to have a new way to do this with Stay Home Boxes!
