SPUD.CA IS RUNNING BACK TO BACK COMMUNITY-BASED FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGNS & ITS HAVING REAL IMPACT

One of SPUD.ca’s core sustainability principles is Cultivating Healthy Community. What this means is that SPUD is dedicated to not only environmental sustainability, but also to societal well-being. As this recent health crisis disrupts mental and physical wellness for many, we wanted to lighten the mood and highlight what good things have happened in our community this year.

Together as a SPUD community, we have raised a lot of funds for women in crisis, aspiring agricultural workers, front line workers, and at-risk communities. Let’s take a few minutes to celebrate this!

In February, we supported No Woman Without

For the second year in a row, SPUD.ca teamed up with the non-profit called No Woman Without. Period to raise money and collect donations of feminine hygiene products for women in crisis.

In total, we raised roughly $1000 and collected 75,000 units of menstrual hygiene products for women’s shelters in BC and Alberta.

In March, we partnered with Young Agrarians

In celebration of Women’s Day this year, we ran a women-centered campaign for the whole month of March. Over these four weeks, we highlighted eight women-led vendors and donated a portion of each sale to Young Agrarians’ two business mentorship programs. Young Agrarians is a farmer to farmer resource network for new and young ecological, organic, and regenerative farmers. They offer support, mentorship and community to young farmers.

Together, we raised $2000 for aspiring women farmers in BC and Alberta.

In April, we started our Stay Home Box program

Launched in April, our Stay Home Box program provides pre-selected grocery box essentials right to your door, with $3 from every purchase going to front line workers. In addition, if you work for an organization that supports low-income families or front line workers, SPUD.ca will provide you with food boxes at-cost.

Since our initiative began, we have raised  over $16,000 for front line workers and other organizations.

Without you, our SPUD customers, we would not have been able to make these positive impacts on our community- so thank you for your support and generosity!!
