DIY FACIAL CLEANSERS TO FIGHT THE DRY WINTER

Love it or hate it, the cold is here to stay. And whether you’re an outdoor enthusiast who lives for snow activities or a homebody who enjoys a book and a cup of red wine hot chocolate by the fireplace, the winter dryness affects all of us. And while using a moisturizer after cleansing can help keep your skin hydrated, wouldn’t it make more sense to also use a moisturizing cleanser?

DIY facial cleansers are simple, and you can make your own at home. Chances are, you probably already have most of these ingredients at home. Ingredients like yoghurt, coconut oil, and honey are just a few ingredients that can help save your skin from the dry and cold weather. But if you’re unsure, check out some of these recipes.

1. Coconut Oil and Beeswax

Melt the coconut oil and beeswax together. Remove immediately from heat as soon as it has melted. Stir and let cool for two minutes before adding essential oils. Store any leftover in an airtight container. Rinse off with warm water. This recipe is guaranteed to keep your skin moisturized.

What you need:

2 oz coconut oil

1 tsp beeswax

2 drops essential oil

2. Yoghurt and Lemon Juice

Yoghurt is one of the best moisturizing cleansers. It’s got protein and lactic acid, both of which not only help clean the skin, but also detoxify. Mix with some lemon juice for extra antibacterial properties. Work mixture into the skin and leave it on for a couple minutes before rinsing off with warm water.

What you need:

2 oz plain yoghurt

A light squeeze of lemon

2 drops essential oil

3. Goat Milk and Oatmeal

There’s a reason why so many skin care products are made of goat milk! It contains incredible skin minerals like selenium and vitamin A. Mix it with some oatmeal, and you’ve got an amazing mixture. Oatmeal is often used in dermatology to help with dry skin. Add a bit of honey for antibacterial properties. Leave it on for a couple minutes before rinsing off with warm water.

What you need:

1 oz goat milk

1 tablespoon ground oats

1 teaspoon honey

And there you have it, some of the most hydrating ingredients that are also great for your skin health. Do you use any of these ingredients in your daily life? Share with us your own DIY facial cleansers and skin care recipes that help fight the dry, cold winter!
