Dear Spud customers,
Thank you so much for all of your donations towards our spring bin drive to benefit local women’s centres. With your help, we were able to collectively fill over 39 Spud bins with donations, which will be delivered to a local women’s centre in your area.
What are we talking about?
A few times per year, we partner up with an organization in each of our four locations, and host a drive with our customers to collect items that our partners can use to better serve their communities. Our drives allow us to connect with our customers, and work collaboratively with them to make a positive impact in our shared community.
Our Spring Bin Drive for Women’s Centres
For our Spring Drive, we partnered with one organization in each of the Spud locations across BC and Alberta. Each of these organizations offer their own programming, but all operate with a focal mission on empowering local women. As partners of our drive, we worked with each organization to create a unique, tailored list of specific items their organization could benefit from. You can learn more about our partners at their websites.
Vancouver: The Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre
Victoria: Women In Need Victoria
Calgary: YWCA Calgary
Edmonton: Women In Need Edmonton
What will the donations be used for?
Many of the items on our wishlists were toiletries, and there’s a reason for this. Many women who visit women’s centres are in need of these items whether for health and wellness reasons, job interviews, to better support their children, or simply for ‘feel good’ purposes. Other items, such as baby toiletries, are often in short supply at women’s centres while still being urgently needed by new mothers.
Other ways to help?
Now that our drive is over, we are no longer able to accept donations. However, there are always other ways to give and get involved. Check out the website’s of our partners to find out more about their programs, how they help, and what you can do to support their efforts.
Thanks again to everyone who chipped in! Without you, our drives—heck, our entire business!—would not be possible. We are grateful for all of your support and for these special opportunities to work together. Stay tuned for our next community bin drive!
