This week we got to know Chris and Gwen from Fable Naturals, two inspiring people, with an incredible brand. Here is what they had to say:
When Chris and I (Gwen) launched our business four years ago, we quickly learned the importance of being part of our local community. Through farmer’s markets and community events we were able to connect with our customers and neighbours. We’ve also met so many other small businesses that we traded ideas and advice with. As we have grown, we have been able to support more fair trade producers who provide our raw ingredients. We look at these farmers as an extension of our community. The families who pick the olives to be pressed, the women who press the argan oil; they are small businesses trying to make a living just like ourselves. To support these communities further we have our giving back program. Last December we were able to fund the schooling of three young girls in India and we are planning to do even more in 2016.
In addition to sourcing fair trade and organic ingredients, we try to make the most conscious choices when it comes to packaging. One of our most popular products is our lips balms, packaged in 100% compostable paper tubes. We are also working towards 100% recycled plastic bottles for our lotions and already use glass jars for our facial products. It doesn’t start or end with the packaging our products come in, we always strive to produce as little waste as possible when we make the products. Ingredients that come in plastic bags and buckets get reused multiple times and recycled and the compost bin is always within reach.
We are proud to be part of Spud’s community of vendors, especially being a part of Spud’s promotion of sustainability through the #LetsNotWaste campaign. We are grateful to have passionate customers that have supported us over the years and that share our values. We couldn’t have grown in a sustainable way without the support of this amazing community around us. Thank you!
