It’s officially summer and what better way to enjoy those long, hot evenings than with this refreshing Strawberry Basil Gin Lemonade! It can be whipped up in a few minutes and is the perfect Canada Day cocktail!
Here’s What You’ll Need:
Handful of strawberries,
The juice of half a lemon,
2-3 basil leaves, plus extra for garnish,
250g powdered sugar,
Lemonade or soda water to top (we used the Santa Cruz Organic Lemonade),
25mL of gin (we recommend the Spirits Badlands Seaberry Gin)
Here’s How to Make the Syrup:
Wash, slice and gently boil a handful of strawberries, lemon juice, 150ml water and the sugar. Simmer it gently until the sugar has combined and has thickened. Strain it and allow it to cool completely.
How to Assemble:
Muddle the basil leaves gently inside a glass, then add ice to the glass. Add plenty of ice, gin and lemonade to a cocktail shaker and shake until combined. Strain the liquid from the shaker into your glass. Add your strawberry syrup and top with lemonade or a splash of club soda. Stir gently and garnish with strawberries and basil. Enjoy!
