Our bi-annual bin drive is back! Time to clear out the closets because this spring we’re giving away clothing to those in need.

We’ve partnered with four organizations in BC and Alberta that are doing amazing work in their communities, and we need your help! From May 14th – 30th, we will be collecting some necessary items through a Spud bin drive. Find out what we’re collecting in your area below:

How do the Spud bin drives work?

Twice per year, we partner up with an organization in each of our four locations and host a drive with our customers to collect items that our partners can use to better serve their communities. We love that our drives allow us to connect with our customers, and work collaboratively to make a positive impact in our shared community.

How can I help?

It’s simple. Anytime between May 14th – 30th, place your clothing donations inside of your Spud bin, then put it out for pick-up as you regularly would. When our drivers come to pick up the bins and deliver them back to the warehouse, we’ll collect all donations, then deliver them to our partnered organization on behalf of our customers.

Who are we supporting, and what are we collecting?

We have partnered with one organization in each of the Spud locations across BC and Alberta. Each of these organizations offer their own unique programming, but are all in need of used clothing. Depending on the needs specific to their area, each organization has given us a list of what type of clothing they are in need of most.

Vancouver: Cerebral Palsy Association

Women’s, men’s, and kid’s clothing.

Victoria: Women In Need Victoria

Mostly men’s clothing. Yes, men’s clothing. This is not a typo.

Calgary: Women In Need Society

Women’s, men’s and kid’s clothing.

Edmonton: WIN House Edmonton

Women’s and kid’s clothing.

Please ensure that each item is:

  • gently used
  • in good working condition
  • free of stains, rips, pet hair, and other damage
  • not missing any parts or components

What will the donations be used for?

These donations will support different needs for each organization, such as support for local programs, resource efforts, and community involvement. Head to each organization’s specific website for details.

Other ways to help?

There are always other ways to give and get involved. Check out the website’s of our partners to find out more about their programs, how they help, and what you can do to support their efforts.

We hope you’ll take the time to contribute any clothing–we greatly appreciate it!

  1. I’m interested to know why the Women in Need clothes drive want MEN’S clothing. Are the clothes we donate not for “Women in Need”?

    1. Hi Marg – we didn’t ask why they wanted men’s clothing, but that is what they requested. I would guess the organization also helps support the families of women, which can include teenaged children or men.
