Last Wednesday, I was fortunate to join Spud’s Business Development Team in hosting a Lunch and Learn for Hootsuite, one of our amazing office customers. The topic was How to Manage Stress through Optimal Nutrition. We had four Spud employees attend: Whitney Radforth and myself, Gabriella Weisbom (Certified Holistic Nutritionists), Margarita Iturriaga (Integrative Nutrition Health Coach) and Lauren Searle (Business Development Manager).
Employees learned what happens within their bodies when they are stressed, different ways stress manifests (the signs and symptoms), along with simple and effective ways to manage their stress levels.
Since stress robs our bodies of essential vitamins and minerals, our goal was to emphasise the importance of fueling our bodies with proper nutrition. We provided examples of the best foods to eat (and what to avoid) during stressful situations. And of course we couldn’t host a Spud lunch and learn without some delicious food. A few volunteers from the audience helped us with our stress-busting smoothie demonstration. We created the Brain Booster (walnuts, dates, blueberries, cinnamon, oats, and spinach) and the Immune Support (kiwi, banana, pineapple, ginger, and turmeric). The Immune Support was the biggest hit!
Now that the employees are aware of ways to manage their stress, they can incorporate nourishing foods and lifestyle strategies so they can feel great all day long.
Lunch and Learn events are one of the perks offered by Spud to our office customers. If your office is interested in hosting a Spud Lunch and Learn, or if you’d like more information, please reach out to the Business Development Team at vancouveroffice@spud.com
