Vancouver Is Awesome

Vancouver Is Awesome:

We’ve partnered with Vancouver’s own Sustainable Produce Urban Delivery (SPUD.ca!) to bring you some of the finer points of using this fantastic service to get your groceries. What this means is that over the next few weeks we’ll be sharing the experience from a couple of different angles: that of my small family of 3 using it and also from a single professional’s (Christine McAvoy) perspective.

Juice Fast / Juice Cleanse: What’s the Deal?

Vancouver Mom:

Have you ever considered a juice fast or cleanse? It seems like they’re all the rage right now, and even if you answered no, the odds are high that someone else you know has either done one, or talked about it. But what’s the deal? We wanted to know, and so we connected with well-known naturopath Dr. Michael T. Murray to find out more.

Getting juicy!

YOGUE:

Seriously, it’s not like I’ve moved to Southern California and we’ve gotten into juicing.  In fact, our trusty Champion juicer actually made the list of items to bring down on our drive here from Vancouver, even though I knew we would be only 2 blocks from both the lovely Cafe Gratitude and one of the best fresh, cold-pressed juice bars I’ve ever been to i.e. Moon Juice.

juicy holidays

Yoyomama:

Don’t get us wrong, we love the rich food, sugary delights, and creamy drinks of the holiday season (eggnog anyone?), but we find they make us sluggish, and, well, feeling a little rounder than we’d like. Luckily, we have just the antidote to the upcoming excess: a juicing regime that will leave you energized and healthy through the season.

JUICE YOUR WAY TO A NEW YOU WITH A HUROM SLOW JUICER (CONTEST)

Vancity Buzz:

The new year is here, and we’ve got health on our minds. Gyms are overflowing, yoga studios are mat to mat and most of us have resolved to eat less chocolate and more vegetables (steamed kale, anyone?). But the biggest question? How to make changes that last.

CHANGE YOUR LIFE ONE SIP AT A TIME, WIN A 3-DAY JUICE CLEANSE

Vancity Buzz:

We’re more than halfway through January—how are you doing with your new year’s resolutions? Statistics show that 30 per cent of the people who make resolutions on January 1 have thrown in the towel by January 15 (so if you’re not having an easy time of it, you’re not alone). Good news, though! Simply setting a goal makes you about 60 per cent more likely to achieve it than not having a goal at all. Whether you’re holding strong or feeling a bit shaky, it’s not too late to commit to making 2014 an amazing and fulfilling year!

SUSTAINABLE PRODUCE URBAN DELIVERY (SPUD.CA!) FOR A SMALL FAMILY IN VANCOUVER

Vancouver Is Awesome:

Last week I shared with you THIS POST that touched on the story of this Vancouver company as well as the convenience of their service. It gave you a good idea of what kind of stuff they have available for delivery (as in: WAY MORE THAN YOU THOUGHT!) and also highlighted just how sustainable the company is, and how you can track how green you’re personally shopping by using the convenient Eco-Audit when ordering. In fact, as you’re clicking through their digital aisles you can find out exactly how far each item had to go in order to get to their warehouse and choose to shop as local as you please. Or not, in today’s case…

Grocery Shopping in Edmonton

If you’re anything like me, you spend a ton of money on food each month for your family. I would much rather food prices in Edmonton plummet than gas prices – it would certainly have a far greater effect on the family pocketbook. And unlike clothes or accessories, I am not willing to buy the cheapest food if it means I am sacrificing taste, safety and quality. Grocery shopping in Edmonton can be easier and cheaper than you may realize.

The Subscription Gift Guide

Jessica Gottlieb :

Spud.com: this is an urban delivery of sustainable produce. Which is a really snazzy way of saying “real food delivered to your home”. But they’ve got something new and wonderful that makes a GREAT gift for anyone who loves juicing (or just wants to try it).Spud now has juicing boxes. Basically they deliver a box that includes a week’s worth of juicing veggies to your home. If your gift recipient doesn’t have a juicer they can send one too and spread out the payments (big win).

Juicing with Sustainable Produce Urban Delivery

Momfluential:

I jumped on the juice bus about a year ago. Long before I’d ever heard of Spud.com.  It makes perfect sense for me. I’m gluten free and sensitive to so many preservatives and additives. I worry about what nutrients I’m getting from my diet. Often I don’t eat for fear of making myself sick, or I eat the same foods over and over for fear of having a reaction to something new.

Will Grocery Stores Go the Way of Video Stores?

Good:

Think about the last time you went into a grocery store and saw an empty table or shelf. Tough, right? That’s because it virtually never happens in this country. American shoppers have become accustomed to finding whatever food item they want when they go to the grocery store—and plenty of it, too. That expectation, which U.S. shoppers have only really had for the last few decades, plays a big role in the country’s growing food waste problem.

Juicing With SPUD; Eating Healthy To Prepare For the Holidays

Moms LA:

I can’t get sick, slow down or gain weight right now like every mom I know during the holidays. That’s why I’m loving my new juicer and produce from  SPUD, Sustainable Produce Urban Delivery. The other day I was feeling really run down. I’d had too much holiday fun the night before and I felt like I was getting a cold. I made this juice for my husband and I and we both felt much better afterward. It was so healthy that I didn’t feel like I needed the usual post-night-out pancakes and bacon.

5 Reasons To Try Your Local Organic Grocery Delivery

The Honest Company:

As adults, we know the value of vegetables. Yet, we find ourselves in rut when it comes to the healthy stuff. It’s a salad on Monday, sweet potato on Tuesday, broccoli on Wednesday, and repeat. And while we have dreams of rainbow colored produce, the variety just overwhelms us once we’re actually at the grocery store and we go back to the usual suspects.
