LOOKING FOR AN EDIBLE EARTH DAY CRAFT? MAKE THESE DIRT ‘N WORMS POTS

Looking for a fun dessert to make this Earth Day?

We put a new spin on an old favourite: dirt ‘n worms—using all vegan ingredients! It’s a classic dessert that really does not require a ton of precision, so even those with very little hands can contribute to the fun. Though, it’s really not necessary to have children present to enjoy creating dirt n’ worms, we didn’t.

Historically, a classic dirt n’ worms dish consists of a layer of pudding, crushed chocolate graham crackers cookies, and gummy worms. This leaves ample room for creative touches—graham cracker sand, and fondant cactuses, anyone? We kept a fairly traditional design with ours, but when it comes to decorating, the sky really is the limit.

So how did we keep it vegan? Well, one of the sweet bonuses of Spud is that we partner with so many fantastic vendors who are passionate about accommodating all different types of preferences. That’s why it was pretty simple for us to wander into our warehouse and pick up some Belsoy’s Dark Chocolate Soy Pudding, Country Choice’s Organic Chocolate Sandwich Cookies, and Surf Sweets Organic Sour Gummy Worms which contain no gelatin. We even added our own special touch (and lone, perhaps futile attempt to add some nutrition) to this dish with a sprig of fresh mint sprouting through the ‘soil’.

Give it a try, and share with us your own Earth Day creations!

How are you celebrating Earth Day?
